High potential and gifted education

Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.

At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.

Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?

What is high potential and gifted education?

High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities

Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.

In our classroom

Every learner is known and high potential students are guided to reach their next level.

  • Differentiated tasks that adjust pace, complexity, and higher-order thinking - made possible through close
    teacher–student relationships.
  • Explicit teaching of critical thinking and problem-solving strategies, guided through direct feedback and small group support.
  • Flexible grouping that allows students to collaborate across stages for shared learning.
  • Opportunities for classroom leadership, mentoring younger peers, and contributing to school initiatives.
  • Safe, nurturing spaces that encourage students to take risks, try new things, and celebrate perseverance.
Across our school

Whole-school programs bring students together, helping them learn from and lead alongside one another.

  • Our small size means every student can be involved, inspired, and supported. We offer a wide range of
programs that allow learners to discover their strengths and explore new interests, from cooking, STEM, and critical-thinking to creative writing, school performances and professionally led sport sessions.
  • Students build confidence through peer mentoring activities that strengthen resilience and connection.

In our close-knit school community, these experiences aren’t just for a select few, every child has the chance to participate,
lead, and shine.

Across NSW

Our students embrace state-wide opportunities that extend their learning, proving that small schools can achieve great things.

  • Premier’s Sporting Challenge – promoting active lifestyles, teamwork, and personal fitness.
  • Premier’s Reading Challenge – inspiring a love of reading and shared stories across NSW.
  • Representative School Sport Pathway and PSSA – giving athletes opportunities to represent their school and region.
  • Creative Arts Camp – celebrating imagination through music, drama, dance, and visual arts.

Even as a small school, every child enjoys access to these rich opportunities, building confidence, achievement, and pride in being part of something bigger.
